OXY CRAFTS
How and why, you might ask. Well, the goal of Oxy crafts workshop is to use environmentally friendly and recyclable materials whenever possible. So we started building composite hulls that are made of marine plywood, flax fibers reinforced with carbon and bio-epoxy. This approach allows us to skip both the model and the mould - which are associated with the loss of quality in serial production - while keeping the use of raw materials and waste generation to a minimum. Not having a mould gives us flexibility and allows us to offer custom-made boats at a reasonable price.

THE BUILD
Besides having an ecological value, composite hulls also last longer as there is no risk of osmosis, delamination and electrolysis. They have two very important seaworthy advantages in comparison to GRP and aluminium boats. When you add flax fibres and bio-epoxy resin on marine plywood you get a high rigid structure which is the essential aspect of boat performance. The less the boat is deformed by stress, the faster and safer its performance is. Also, marine plywood is lighter but more solid than the current GRP and aluminium materials of equivalent weight.
The result is a supreme performance sailboat suitable for offshore sailing.
MATERIALS
When talking about the choice of materials, we always opt for ecologically-friendly, sustainable options that will not minimize the sailboat’s performance in any way. We are true to bio-epoxy as our main material and found no downsides to it so far. Besides flax fibers, bio-epoxy resin and marine plywood, we also use sackcloth instead of fiberglass.

WHY CUSTOM?
As genuine lovers of sailing ourselves, we wanted to offer our fellow sailors an opportunity to adapt the sailboat to themselves, at least to an extent. We know what it’s like to change several sailboats and never be quite satisfied. And that is how Oxy was born. A sailboat which doesn’t require model nor the mould has less restrictions and enables us to adapt it here and there according to its user’s preferences. It also allows for greater attention to details and overall higher quality.
THE FEELING OF SAILING
Oxy sailboats are crafted for experienced and passionate sailors who want a bit more performance out of their sailboat in order to enjoy a truly exciting sailing.
